Cafes in Taradale — Napier's Suburban Coffee Scene

4 cafes in Taradale

Taradale sits about 7km southwest of central Napier, a leafy residential suburb that doubles as the gateway to Hawke's Bay wine country. The cafe scene here is smaller and more local than the CBD or Ahuriri, but what it lacks in volume it makes up for in character.

Bay Espresso is the anchor — a well-established roaster-cafe that draws regulars from across the region. It's one of the few Napier cafes that roasts its own beans on-site, and the cabinet food is consistently good. Other options along Gloucester Street include relaxed brunch spots popular with families and weekend cyclists heading to or from the wineries.

Taradale isn't walkable from the cruise port or the i-SITE shuttle, so it's best suited for locals or visitors with a car. But if you're heading out to the cellar doors at Church Road, Mission Estate, or Craggy Range, a Taradale cafe stop makes a natural start to the day.
