How the shuttle works

1

Port to i-SITE

A free shuttle runs from Napier Port to the Marine Parade i-SITE visitor centre, departing every 15–20 minutes throughout the day. The ride takes about 5 minutes.

2

Walk to a cafe

The i-SITE is on Marine Parade, right in central Napier. The closest cafes are 1–2 minutes' walk. The CBD's main streets (Emerson, Tennyson, Hastings) are 5–7 minutes away.

3

Use Cruise Mode

Tap the Cruise Mode button in our menu to see only cafes within a 15-minute walk, sorted by distance and filtered to what's open right now.

Cafes within 5 minutes of the shuttle

These are the closest cafes to the i-SITE drop-off on Marine Parade. Perfect if you're short on time or just need a quick coffee before exploring.

Cafes within 10 minutes

A slightly longer walk gets you into the heart of Napier's Art Deco CBD — Emerson Street, Tennyson Street, and Hastings Street. This is where you'll find the widest choice of cafes, brunch spots, and specialty coffee.

If you have more time — Ahuriri

Ahuriri is Napier's waterfront village, about a 20-minute walk from the i-SITE (or a short taxi ride). It's home to some of the best cafes in the region, with harbour views, specialty roasters, and a more relaxed pace than the CBD.

Tips for cruise visitors in Napier

  • Currency: New Zealand uses the NZ dollar. Most cafes accept contactless cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). Some don't take cash at all.
  • Tipping: Not expected in New Zealand. Staff are paid a living wage. A tip is appreciated but never required.
  • Cafe hours: Most Napier cafes open between 7–8am and close by 3–4pm. A few stay open later, but don't expect evening service.
  • Weather: Hawke's Bay is one of New Zealand's sunniest regions, but mornings can be cool. A light jacket is worth bringing ashore.
  • Time zone: New Zealand is UTC+12 (UTC+13 during daylight saving, late September to early April). Check your ship's clock — it may differ from local time.
